Every now and then people ask me : “Candice, how are you able to concentrate on your work? Don’t you feel distracted? ”
I’m human, so yes, I often feel distracted, but less than I did a couple of years ago.I’m a freelancer, working at home; therefore this kind of living is not easy, I don’t separate my personal life from my professional life. It is starting to wear me off, and that’s one of the reasons why I have been looking for something else… and found it! 😉
When I work, the first thing I need to do before actually working is preparing myself. Taking a shower, putting my hair in a ponytail, cleaning my desk, making my bed. Then, I make myself a cup of (delicious) tea and log off from twitter and Facebook. It’s hard, because I’m so tempted to check my timelines, but I don’t need to, I need to work.
I’ve noticed that I work more efficiently either early in the morning or late in the evening. In the afternoon I tend to be more sidetracked and tired. Find the moment where you’re the most inspired and get things done! Also, music helps me a lot. Try to make yourself a “work playlist” and here you go!
An essential thing to do is to take breaks. You won’t be 100% efficient if you don’t take the time to just relax.
It could be watching a youtube video, reading a few pages from a book, talking with a friend, or even taking a stroll in the sun. At first, you should just work for 30minutes and take 15minutes of break.
Then, you’ll see that the 30 minutes will soon turn into on hour! I swear, it worked for me.
Doesn’t it feel good when you’ve accomplish a lot of work at the end of the day? Don’t you feel less anxious when you’re lying in your bed about what you should have done?
